METHODIST SYNOD

Meeting at Masterton Masterton, Nov. 11. The annual district synod of the Methodist Church opens in Masterton on Tuesday next. Ministers and laymen from Levin and Wellington districts to Eketabuna will attend to the number of about sixty. The ministerial committee will meet on Tuesday, and in the evening the grand synod demonstration will be held in the Masterton Methodist Church. The Rev.' T. R. Richards, chairman of Uie district, will preside. Combined, choirs under the baton of Mr. S. H. R»h>h w‘U render “And the Glory and The Halk lujah Chorus,” from the “Messiah, and Miss Donald’s Jubilee choir will also sing. The Rev. C. G. Cook will address the meeting, on behalf of the ministers, and Mr. R. S. Maunder will reply on behalf of the laity. On Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock the Communion service will be held, after which the synod will he welcomed by the mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, and will open in full representative session. The men of the Methodist Church will welcome the synod members at.tea on Wednesday evening. Mr. W. White will preside. , . _ On Sunday next pre-synod services will be conducted in Masterton. Rev. it. ,T. Liddell will preach in the morning and the Rev. E. O. Blamires in the evening. After the evening service there will be a reception to new members.
