Black Brothers at Shandon SOME RECORDS BROKEN During the week-end, J. L. Black and H. A. Black (Miramar) visited the Shandon links, and had a round. J. L. Black did a 72, which is two below scratch figures, and H. A. Black did a 74. In the semi-final of the Wilford trophy on -the Shandon links during the weekend, Runciman beat Bowring, 5 and 4, and T.~ P. McCarthy beat C. L. Bishop, 8 and 2. The third round of the Saturday morning cup must be played by Saturday next. Millard plays Ward, Fargie plays Hebenton, and the winner of Bennett and Petersen plays Rawnsley. A. W. Press beat A. W. Caldwell, 3 and 2. In the November medal played during the week-end, F. O. Desmond returned the best card, 86—20—66. The next best cards were:—W. Rodger, 89 —20 —69; E. McCarroll, 84—14—70; K. Jeffery, 81—10—71; P. Burke, 85—12—73; C. T. Brown, 87 — 14-— 73; J. W. Fergie, 95 —20 —75; J. S. Hunter, 81 —6 —75; R. G. Hayward, 81—4—77. The president’s trophy was won last week by A. R. Lawson with 93 —24 —69. MANOR PARK CLUB I During the week-end, R. M. Stratmore, Jiinr. broke the record for the Manor Park course with a round of 70. A bogey competition played on the Manor Park links. during the week-end was won by A. Hendry (11) with a card showing 1 up. In a fourball best-ball competition. R. M. Stratmore, junr. (2), and J. L. Barnard (11) finished 8 up, and S. Duncan (Waiwetu) and D. Butler 7 up. In a fourball best-ball medal competition, S. Duncan and D. Butler returned a score of 64 net. D. Borrower and Dr. Shirer (Titabi) were 65. V. Hay and 11. Mehaffey 65, M. Jenkins and Mrs. Jackson 66. and R. Kember and J. Bringans (Paekakariki.) 66. The summer season will be officially open on Sunday next.
