BUDDHIST TEMPLE FOR LONDON.
Five years ago the London Vihara Committee of Colombo drew up a plan for building a Buddhist temple in Leudon, and issued an appeal for funds. It has collected £lO,OOO, and the work will soon be begun. The temple has been designed by an English architect. Its front elevation will be copied froma design in one of the famous caves at Ajanta, in the state of Hyderabad. The Ajanta Caves, cut into the sides of a river ravine, date from 200 B.C. and were once used as a Buddhist college and monastery.
