SUMMER CARNIVAL
Winter Show Proposal FIXTURE AT CHRISTMAS A recommendation that a carnival be held on December 26-27 was adopted by the committee of the Wellington Winter Show,Association last evening. It was decided to include in the programme athletics, wood chopping, horse jumping, tug-of-war; steer riding, and other events. The finance committee, which brought down the recommendations, estimated the cost of the carnival at £645. Mr. C. J. B. Norwood, who presided, said that as there were few attractions iu the city at Christmas there was no reason why the carnival should not draw large crowds. A Member: Has an alternative scheme been suggested? Mr. Norwood said he did not think any other suggestion would be practicable. He thanked members for their work at the last show, which had met with the limited success possible in the circumstances. The executive was very much concerned about the finances, and some time ago had asked the deben-ture-holders to accept a reduction in Interest from 8 per cent, to 6 per cent.
