ALL-BRITISH POLICY
ALTHOUGH British pictures sufferzx ed a very severe setback immediately after the war period they have, since the introduction of the talkies, , come well into their own, so much so that throughout the whole of Australia allBritish houses, that is houses which have a policy of screening nothing but British pictures, are being established. This has been inaugurated by British Dominions Films in conjunction with the principal exhibitors throughout Australia. New Zealand has followed suit, and the Plaza Theatre, Auckland, commenced an all-British policy on Friday. October 14, the opening attraction being “Sunshine Susie,” the B.D.F. picture that has broken records everywhere and is now in its seventeenth week at the Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne. On November 25 the Paramount Theatre, Wellington, will be opened as an all-British house with “Sunshine Susie” as the stellar attraction. The Civic Theatre, Christchurch, will be the next one to be opened under the B.D.F. banner, and later similar all-British houses will make their appearance in Invercargill and Wanganui.
