Trouble on the Canopus VESSEL MAY BE LAID UP By Telegraph—Press Association. Aucklaud, Oct. 5. The crew of the Canopus was paid off to-day. If uo settlement is reached to-morrow the vessel will go into the stream. It was reported yesterday that the Canopus was held up as the result of a private dispute with the master of the vessel. According to the men- two of their number were searched by the captain ou the ground that stores had been previously missed. The remainder Considered this action an unjustified slight, and protested. The vessel was to have sailed for Westport on Tuesday, but, it was stated, the crew refused to take the vessel to sea until some amends were made to the two men.
