Mr. Jack Tait, of Otorohanga, has left on an extended holiday tour in Australia. The Rev. Melville E. Holmes, assistant curate at St. Mary’s Church, Karori, Wellington, has been appointed to a similar position at Holy Trinity Church, Tauranga. Mr. Holmes will take up his new duties on December 1. Mr. A. Good, of Taranaki, Mr. O. G. Bartram, of Gisborne, and Mr. E. Averill, of Hawke’s Bay, have been appointed to represent their respective districts on the Assessment Court under the Valuation of Land Act, 1925. Mr. David Craig, of Wanganui, has been appointed a member of the revaluation committee for the Wellington land district; Mr. C. E. Stewart, of Napier, has been appointed representative for Hawke’s Bay, and Mr. 15. B. Roberton has been appointed to represent the Taranaki land district. The appointments are for two years. Mr. G. Shirtcliffe, 0.8. E., has been appointed chairman of the advisory council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The following have been appointed members of the advisory council:—Professor H. G. Denham, M.A., D.Sc., Ph.D.; H. Vlckerman, D. 5.0., 0.8. E., M.Sc., M.lnst. C.E.; Professor J. Malcolm, M.D., Ch.B.; T. Rigg, M.Sc.; A. H. Cockayne; J. Pearce Luke. The appointments hold until the end of this year.
