SPEEDY CYCLIST
Prosecution by Council WARNING TO OTHERS Mainly as a warning to others, a cyclist was prosecuted in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for exceeding the speed limit over an intersection in the city. Counsel for the City Corporation said that the case was intended to be a general indication to push-cyclists that they must consider their speed as much as users of other vehicles. He suggested that the Information might be withdrawn on payment of costs, The magistrate, Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., agreed to this. When the case was called, counsel said that there had been a tendency lately for cyclists to tear along streets without regard for the possible danger, both to themselves and others. Defendant had been travelling at about 27 miles ah hour across an intersection, and bad taken several chains to pull up. Quite a number of people were about.
