TO GIVE SURETIES
Russian With Drill Books Sydney, September 6. A Russian, Alexander jjeitlin, aged 32, charged with the illegal possession of military drill books, was ordered to enter sureties for good behaviour for two years and discharged. Zeitlin, described as a fanatic, said that he bought the books from a friend. Zeitlin was arrested on August 19 on a charge of having four military drill books in his possession which were suspected- of being stolen. He was also charged with vagrancy. Detective Wickham, giving formal evidence in the City Court, said that plans and documents found in Zeitlin’s possession indicated that some revolutionary action was about to be precipitated, which might result in the overthrow of the Government. The documents contained instructions for the formation of revolutionary training along military lines, also secret service activities and Communistic aims.
