HOUSE RANSACKED

Residence of Minister While the Rev. P. N. Knight, was conducting the service at the Durham Street Methodist Church, Christchurch, his residence at 54 Chester Street, just behind the church, was broken into aud ransacked. Entrance was effected through the back door, and was apparently the work 'of no amateur, a whole pane of frosted glass being neatly cut out, so that the door could be opened. All of Mr. Knight’s family were out between 6.30 p.m. and 8.15 p.m., when the breaking and entering is presumed to have taken place. When Mr. Knight returned be found the house "in indescribable confusion, drawers having been pulled out and their contents scattered on the floor. Nothing of value was missing.
