Archaelogical excavations on the Cavergne Plains have revealed one of the most important historical areas of Europe, including the three ancient cities of Heraclea, Rhodanoussia, and Theline, with important ports, where vessels called when sailing for Brittany, Ireland, and Cornwall. Ruined houses, streets, reservoirs, and waterpipes indicate the district as a centre of bronze age civilisation.
