RAPID GROWTH
Travelling by
Airways
HUNDREDFOLD INCREASE (Rec. August 14, 5.5 p.m.) Official tyireless. Rugby, August 12. The extremely j-apid growth of air travel is shown by the fact that whereas thirteen years ago only 20 passengers left Croydon in an average week, now 2000 leave that airport weekly. This hundredfold Increase promises to be rapidly exceeded, for in the first six months of this year Imperial Airways carried 30,000 passengers from Croydon alone —as many as the total carried during the whole of last year. It is now possible to book by air from Croydon for 130 Continental centres, apart from Empire services.
