THE PUBLIC TRUST

District Officer Appointed MR. A. R. COAD’S CAREER It was recently announced that the position of District Public Trustee, Wellington, was to be filled by the appointment of Mr. K. A. Henderson, District Public Trustee, Palmerston North. In the meantime, however, Mr. Henderson has tendered his resignation so. that he may accept a private position which has been offered him, and it has been decided to appoint to the position Mr. A. R. Coad, who for the past seven years has been chief inspector to the department. The local business is now so extensive .as to require the appointment of a senior executive officer to assume control, and the relative status of the branch is receiving special consideration. Mr. Coad, who is a qualified accountant by examination, joined the staff of the Publie Trust Office in 1911, before which he had gained a considerable experience locally in business and commercial matters. During his service he has occupied a number of responsible positions which have given him a thorough insight into the work of the office, and in addition to the experience so gained he possesses a close ’knowledge of local property and business conditions. Immediately after the Hawke’s Bay earthquake in February, T. 931, Mr. Coad was stationed in the Hawke’s Bay district as the representative of the Public Trustee ip connection with the administration of the funds subscribed publicly for., tie relief of suffering caused by the ea'rthquake. Until recently he was engaged,on these special duties. His work in connection with the administration of the relief funds was the subject of high praise by the Central Earthquake Relief Committee and by the local relief committees operating in the earthquake area. The Public Trustee for the Dominion is Mr. J. W. Macdonald.
