Misses McGowan, Wellington, who have been in England for the past 18 months, will return home for Christmas. Miss Esther Cameron and Miss Daphne McLeod, of the Wairarapa, were successful competitors at the ski-ing sports held recently at the Hermitage, Mount Cook. Miss Ruahine Beyers has arrived in Wellington from the north, having completed her tour of the Dominion. She intends to remain in Wellington prior to hep departure for England early in September. Miss Jean Beyers will accompany her sister abroad. Miss E. Scott, of the Taranaki Street Free Kindergarten, has been selected for the Carnegie Kindergarten Fellowship. Miss Scott will leave next month for Columbia University College to study under the Fellowship, which carries with it a grant of £5OO. Miss Daisy Armstrong, daughter of Mr. Mark Armstrong, of Christchurch, has left for, England with Madame Ottlee, the well-known teacher of singing and elocution. Miss Armstrong intends to study further for the stage. She has been a successful competitor at the Christchurch competitions, and has been praised for her talent in the portrayal of Shakespearean characters.
