YOUNG FARMERS
Agricultural Competitions SOUTH HAWKE’S BAY CLUB Dominion Special Service. Danncvirke, August 12., Arrangements for the present y®? r ? calf and root competitions were finalised at a meeting of the Southern Hawke s Bay Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural CIuB held in Dannevirke yesterday. It was decided that as the amount of Government assistance had been decreased for the present year, school committees should be asked to provide the prize® for their individual schools. Failing the committees agreeing to this, the club would only be able to offer the usual group and championship prizes. A purebred Jersey heifer calf cup has been donated by Mr. H. H. Phillips, of Jersey Meadows, the calf to be judged on dairy type. The Takapau, Otawhad, Makotuku. and Ormondville schools will form one group, and the Dannevirke North and South. Rua Roa. Te Rehunga, and Kiritaki schools will form another, to obviate the necessity of bringing iu all the placed calves from all the schools, as was the case in the past. This year the first three calves of each group will be assemled fo£ judging in the group and championship.
