Mr. C. W. Tringham returned from the South Island yesterday morning. Mr. A. O. Robinson, Mount Palm, Rotherham, and Mr. A. W. Chisholm, Sydney, are at the Grand Hotel Mr. L. Satterthwaite and Mr. O. Shiel, Dunedin; and Mr. W. H. Judd, Melbourne, are at the Hotel St George. Mr. John G. Weightman, of Feilding, has been appointed judge of the New Zealand National Daffodil Show, to be held at Hamilton in September. Mr. Hendry Luke, Auckland; Mr. J. Butler, Melbourne; Mr. J. Royle, Sydney; and Mr. K. A. Guy, Palmerston North, are at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. P. L. Porter, at present assistant manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, will be manager of that branch in succession to Mr. J. MacGibbon, who is retiring. Mr. Porter was manager at Suva, and also had banking experience in London when attached to the London office of the Bank of New Zealand. Sir Richard Ranklne, K.C.M.G., British Resident at Zanzibar, and formerly Colonial Secretary of Fiji, will shortly visit New Zealand on a holiday trip. Sir Richard Rankine is a brother of Mr. John Rankine. of Glenmore StreetLady Rankine, who will accompany her husband, is the eldest daughter of the late Mr. J. S. Dalzell, of Oamaru.
