Nolan. Forwards: Misses G. Webb, N. Williams'. NOTES AND COMMENTS (By "Critic.”) Miss Dot Foreman, Hutt centre-for-ward, did not receive the opportunities against Old Girls that she was entitled to. Her timers and wings were sadly neglecting her, preferring, under the ruling conditions of the field, to indulge in individual tactics. This was the -keynote to Hutt’s .failure. Had Miss Foreman been properly supported Old Girls may never have won' by three clear goals. . The steady defensive work of Miss Molly Hallewell went a long way to checking the Hutt forwards from becoming too dangerous in Old Girls’ goal area._ Miss Hallewell is most reliable and is the possessor of. a fairly powerful hit. She seemed to have the Hutt left-wing tied up on numerous occasions. • The Shiel sisters played prominently for .Upper Hutt on Saturday. Miss Avegy was also seen to advantage. 'Miss May Wilkins, who performed so well for Swifts during the second round of the senior A competition, would be a great acquisition to the Wellington tourney team’s attack,. It will not be surprising to see Miss Watkins appointed to the dual position of manageress-player. She has represented Wellington on numerous occasions at tourneys, and last year captained the local team at Auckland. A consistent hard-working left half for Old Girls last week was Miss Ada Scott. She kept the Hutt right flank in good check. Miss ’Scott was a member of last year’s Wellington team that competed at the Auckland tourney, and her chance of gaining a place in this years team looks fairly good, although a great deal will depend on her performances in tomorrow’s trial game. Hutt’s right -wing, Miss M. West,, has made splendid headway since playing in senior A rank, and if she repeats .her season’s good work in the trial game tomorrow, she may impress the selector sufficiently to get the trip to Dunedin. The representative -senior and junior teams to play Wairarapa on Saturday week wBI be announced early next A benefit dance is to be given by the Karori club next Wednesday to a member of the senior team who ie to undergo an operation to a knee injured during a championship match. All the fuss over the Toa-Hospital game could have been avoided, writes "Play the Game,” had the referee inf ormed the association, that he had been asked to referee the -players coached by him and had he requested .that .in l these tnreumstanees he be relieved of this match. One letter published in your columns concerning the Hospital-Toa gamn expressed the opinion that the best players had won on their merits. If this is so it is surprising that those players could not beat Upper Hutt when they met on Newtown Park a couple of weeks ago, particularly as Toa. had beaten this team on each occasion they met them. It "is puzzling to see where the merits spoken of come in. Junior Trial Teams Mr. 8. Brugh, selector, has chosen the following players to take part in the junior A trial match at Karori to-mor-row:— Probables: College Old Girls’ colours —Misses I. Clarke (Centics), W. Sime (Wenerei). — Scantiehury (Centics), — Bramley (Wenerei), J. Mack (Technical College), It. Walker (College Old Girls), 3. Mack (Technical College), — Yate* 1 man, J.
