BURNED TO DEATH

Tragedy in Wanganui Home VERDICT OF CORONER Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, August 11. A verdict that death was due to severe burns accidentally sustained was returned at an inquest into the death of Mrs. Mabel Rita Clarkson by the coroner, Mr. S. M. Dickson, yesterday. It was stated in evidence that. Mrs. Clarkson had been in the habit of rising early and feeding a young baby in front of an electric radiator. On Monday morning the husband of deceased did not hear her get up, but heard her calling to him. He ran into the room and found her in flames. He wrapped coats around her and rolled her on the floor to put the flames out, and then telephoned for a doctor. The baby was unharmed. It is assumed that the dressing-gown which Mrs. Clarkson was wearing caught fire in front of the radiator. There were do matches in the house and no fire in the flreplace where the radiator was standing.
