HOCKEY ON SKATES

Match With Auckland WELLINGTON TEAM CHOSEN Exciting hockey on skates was played at the Royal Roller Rink on Tuesday, when two selected teams met in a test match for the purpose of selecting a representative team to meet Auckland on Wednesday, August 31. The combination captained by P. Cotter proved too strong for the opposition, the final score being 4 goals to 1. Of the winning team Cotter Howard, and the goalie, G. Costello, were outstanding, while for the losers, G Austin and K. Williams were the stars of the forwards. Goalie Manson, of the Petouc team, gave a fine display, and was unfortunate in having very little assistance from his team mates, when on the defensive. At the conclusion of the game the following were selected to represent Wellington against Auckland: —A. McDonald, P. Cotter, G. Austin, G. Costella, K. Howard, R. Tovey and K. Williams. Keen interest is being taken in the hockey matches that have been played this season, and up to date the Petone combination are at the head of the table, with an undefeated record, while.the rink combined teams each have a victory to their credit, with Newtown at the bottom of the ladder.
