Use a piece of cotton-wool or fine flannel and ruh the meal gently into every crevice, then shake thoroughly. A squeaking door can be cured by the application of an ordinary soft blacklead pencil. Hub the lead into the hinge on both sides, working it well in, and the squeak will cease. Before washing hair-brushes, rub the backs and handles with vaseline. This protects the polish from the effects of hot water and soap, and will give a good gloss to the wood when briskly rubbed off 'with a duster afterwards. If the shelves of the medicine chest are lined with blotting paper, it will not only serve to silence the movement of bottles, but will save the wood from stains.
