WEDDING
McLeod—Nelson A wedding of interest to Hawke’s Bay people took place at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday last, when at St. Luke’s Church, Havelock North, Gloden Wordsworth Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Nelson, Mangapapa. Hasting, was married to Ronald Gilmour Pattullo, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. MacLeod, Hawkestone Terrace, Wellington. Rev. Archdeacon K. E. Maclean officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was graceful in her wedding gown of soft ivory satin, which was made with a closely fitting bodice, the neck having cowl drapery, and long sleeves with a cuff to the elbow. A rope of pearls was worn. The skirt touched the ground and was made in flares, with soft frills at the hips. From the shoulders fell a train of ivory net, and ovCr this, from a narrow head circlet bf orange blossoms, forming a double train, was the exquisite veil of Carrickinacross lace (lent by Mrs. Gatenby). Ivory satin • shoes were worn, and a bouquet carried of deep creamy freesjas, pastel tinted sweet peas, and cyclamen with maidenhair fern and streamers. The only bridesmaid was Miss Dora Nelson, younger sister of the bride, who wore a very pretty frock of cream chiffon velvet made with a cowl neck, the skirt fitting at the hips and very long and flared from the knees. A little coatee had soft cuffs niched to the elbow, and a band of rucking right round the coat. Apricot shoes were worn and a wreath of gold leaves around her head made a becoming head-dress. A bouquet of apricot toned freesias, sweet peas and cyclamens with fine fern and streamers was carried, and a gold hunting-horn brooch (from the bridegrodm) was Worn. ' D Mr. Cyril Scannell carried out the duties of best man. The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride with greenery, palms, and mimosa. Major Oldham officiated at the organ and played the wedding march and the hymns “Lead Us Heavenly Father Lead Us,” and ”0 Perfect Lqve,” 'Which were sung. After the ceremony about 50 guests, all relatives of the bride and bridegroom, were entertained at tea by Mr. and Mrs. Nelson at Mangapapa. The drawing-room and dining-rooms were decoratetf with bowls of golden Iceland poppies, freesias, and maidenhair fern, with other early spring flowers. Tea whs set on a large table and on a smaller table stood the tiered wedding cake, which was cut by the bride. ■ , , ' Many congratulations were received by the bride and bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson received their guests, Mrs. Nelson wearing a model gown of bottle-green wool crepe with a deep collar, of black fur, a small black straw hat, and a musquash fur coat. A vivid bouquet of cinerarias and flowers in petunia shades with malden-halr fern Was carried. Mr. and Mrs. J. MacLeod (Wellington) were present, Mrs. MacLeod wearing a rose and green figured georgette frock with a little black straw hat up-turned at the side, with a coat of black velour trimmed with skunk fur. A bouquet of spring flowers and maidenhair fern was carried. Later the bride and bridegroom left by car and were farewelled by their friends amid showers of confetti. The bride wore a tailored dark browti coat and skirt with a blouse of beige satin, a small felt hat of dark brown shade, and a musquash fur coat.
