•.• . * Silver line ’twixt earth and sky; Falling on the frosty ground; Whispering that the. spring is nighr— Spring showers! Gleaming chords thro' rays of sun; Drifting through the dusty trees; Ending e’er 'its scarce begun— Summer's rain! Pattering down on gaudy leaves— Crystal drops of shining dew— Lightingi on the golden sheaves — Autumn rain! Great grey sheets from scudding clouds, Blotting out the gloomy hills; Wrapping all in one wet shrouud— Winter's rain! —Second prize—By Doris Court, aged 16 years, Woodville.
