*• • • I saw the rain—a dim, grey spirit, pass Shuddering, across a .field, of emerald grass; . . I sate her wring her hands and weep • And wander down a valley steep . As if she vainly sought for something there; And then upon d lofty mountain crag Tpecping she climbed, o’er many a rocky jag; 'White cloud-wraiths swirled around her feet; The icy wind with motion fleet Swept shrieking by and wildly tossed her:hair. ... ■ She strove to reach her cloudy home, the sky, And as towards those far-off lands on high She supplicating stretched her hands . i . . A thousand glorious, shfnlng!bands . :' I > Of silvery light, athwart the mountain fell.
