The King has approved the extension for one year from May, 1933, of the term of office of Brigadier-General the Hon. Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven as Governor of South Australia. The Hon. Sir Alan Johnstone, thirtyeight years member of the Irish Diplomatic Service, and noted sportsman, died in London after an operation, aged 73. He leaves a widow and an only son, Mr. Harcourt Johnstone, member of Parliament for South Shields and Assistant Whip in the National Government-
