Bartrum, of Auckland University College, has been awarded by the New Zealand Institute the Hutton Memorial Medal for his research work in geology Mr. John Barr, chief librarian for Auckland City, and director of the Art Gallery left by the Mariposa for the United States,. where he will study library methods under a grant made by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. He expects to be absent from New Zealand for six months. Mr. J. A. Peck and Mr. J. Morris. Auckland, are at the Hotel St.’George. Mr. C. H, Davies and Mr. A. Banks, Wanganui; Mr. G. A. Taska and Mr. J. Thompson, Auckland; and Mr. T. McGhle, Westport, are at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. T. Ker, Christchurch; Mr. H. H. Wright, Palmerston North; Mr. W McK. Jeffrey, Auckland; Mr. R. T. St. Lawrence. Hawke’s Bay: Mr. J. E. Vickers, Waverley; Mr. A. Lawford. London: Mr. R. Ellis and Mr. H. M. Mackay. Dunedin; and Mr. W. E. Clarke, Timaru, are at the Grand Hotel. Dr. J. T. Irving, Dr. W. Irving, Mr. J. W. Jones, Christchurch: Mr. J. C. Kolleston, Te Kuitl; Messrs. David Williams, J. Riddiford, and T. Rlddiford, Featherston; and Mr. .J. H, Jesserd, Hastings, are guests at the Midland Hotel.
