The foundations of an early Christian chapel dating from the fourth century have been excavated in the Roman town of Aquincum, near Budapest- The chape., which belong to the military camp of Aquincum, has a sanctuary which forms three half-eircles —a so-called cella trichora, such as those which were built in the first century, another example ot which was excavated in Pecs not long Aquincum chapel, of which only the foundation walls arc tsanding, is regarded as a proof that an early Christian community existed in Aquincum.
