The well-known steamer Rimu, a unit of the Northern Steam Ship Company’s fleet, which has been laid up at Auckland for many years past, has been sold to an Auckland firm to be broken up. The Rimu," a twin-screw steamer with a length of 142 ft., and a beam of 24ft., was built at Preston, England, in 1898, for the New Zealand coastal trade for a southern company. She traded on the coast for a number of years, and occasionally went as far north as Manukau and Kaipara, on one occasion bringing a coal cargo to Helensville. The Rimu was bought by the Northern Company, lengthened, and placed in the West Coast trade. When auxiliary vessels were placed in the trade there the Rimu was brought to Auckland.

CAMBRIDGE REPORTS Due Auckland 10 p.m. To-morrow The Federal Company has received a wireless message from the Cambridge, en route from Glasgow and Liverpool, via the Panama Canal, reporting that she expects to reach Auckland at 10 p.m. tomorrow. She will later proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers, to complete discharge, and is due here on August 12. TONGARIRO SAILS. Having completed her homeward loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Tongariro left Bluff at 3 p.m. on Wednesday for Southampton and London, via Cape Horn and Dakar. WAIKOUAITI LEAVES HOBART. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the Waikouaiti, from Newcastle and Sydney, left Hobart at 3 p.m. on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru. Lyttelton, and Oamaru, and is due at Bluff on Monday morning. She has transhipments ex the Changte, Orsova, Nankin, Montreal Maru. Balranald, Comorin, and Mangola. x SOMERSET’S MOVEMENTS. To continue her homeward loading to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Federal steamer Somerset arrived at New Plymouth at noon yesterday from Nelson. She will now leave there again to-day for Wellington, and is due here to-morrow morning for further loading. The Somerset is to leave here again about next Tuesday for Timaru and Bluff, to complete, and is scheduled to clear Bluff finally on August 20 for London, via Cape Horn, Montevideo, and Dakar. MAORI TO DOCK. The Lyttelton ferry steamer Maori is to dock at Lyttelton next Monday for cleaning and painting. She will not receive cargo at Wellington to-morrow. MONOWAI LEAVES. SYDNEY. Cabled advice has been received that the Union Company’s liner Monowai left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Wellington. She is due here next Monday morning, and will leave again the following afternoon for Rarotonga, _ Papeete, and San Francisco, where she is due on August 26. < ZEALANDIA FOR SYDNEY. The Huddart, Parker steamer Zealandia is timed to leave Wellington at 3 p.m. to-day for Sydney, where she is due next Tuesday morning. TARANAKI AT NEW PLYMOUTH. The Shaw, Savill motor-ship Taranaki arrived at - New Plymouth yesterday morning from Mackay, Queensland, to commence her homeward loading. She is to leave there again to-day for Wanganui and Wellington, for further loading, and is now due here on August 11. She will leave here again on August 16 for Gisborne and Auckland, to complete, and is scheduled to clear the northern port finally on August 26 for London, Avonmouth. Liverpool, and Glasgow, via Cape Horn and La? Palmas. CANADIAN CONQUEROR REPORTS. Canadian National Steamships have received a wireless message from the Canadian Conqueror, en route from Montreal, reporting that she expects to reach Auckr land next Monday afternoon. She is now due at Wellington on August 12, to continue discharge of her Montreal cargo and to load for New York, Boston, and Montreal* hence to - Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Australia, to complete discharge and loading. THE FORRESBANK. After discharging a cargo of phosphates at Auckland, New Plymouth, and Wanganui, the Bank Line motor-ship Forresbank left Wanganui on Tuesday for Queensland, to load raw sugar for Montreal. . THE TANKER BISCA. The local office of Ltd., advises that the Norwegian motor-tanker Bisca, which is en route from Los Angeles, will, discharge at Wellington and Australia, and will not now call at-Auck-land.. She has bulk motor-spirit for the British International Oil Company, and is due here about August 17. LARGO LAW TO BE SCRAPPED. The 4005-ton steamer Largo Law, which visited Auckland on a number or occasions, has been sold to Italian shipbreakers tor £lBOO, The vessel was built at Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1967. THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. Canadian National Steamships have received cabled advice that the Canadian Challenger, which left Dunedin on May 14, via Australia, reached New York on July 21, Boston on July 23, Quebec on July 30, and Montreal on August 2. AORANGILEAVES SUVA. Cabled advice has been received that the Union Company’s motor-liner Aorangi, en roate from Vancouver, left Suva yesterday for Auckland, where she is due on Sunday afternoon.' She will leave Auckland again on Monday for Sydney. THE PORT ALMA. The C. and D. Line advises that its motor-ship Port Alma is due at Auckland to-morrow morning from Brisbane to commence her Homeward loading. She will leave there again on Monday for Gisborne, Wellington, Port Chalmers and Bluff to complete. ■ The vessel is now due here on August 13 and is scheduled to dear Bluff finally on August 20 for London, via Cape Hom and Dakar. MAKURA LEAVES SAN FRANCISCO. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the -R.M.S. Makura left San Francisco at 2 p.m. on Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, and Sydney. She is due here on August 22. KANNA REPORTS. The Union Company has received ■ a wireless message from the Kanna, en route from Melbourne, reporting that she expects to reach Napier to-morrow afternoon. She will later complete discharge at Wellington and Bluff, and is now due here next Tuesday. RANGITATA ARRIVES. From London, via the Panama Canal, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor-liner Rangitata arrived in the stream at Wellington late last night from London, via the Panama Canal. She will berth about 9 o’clock this morning at' the Pipitea Wharf to land her passengers and mails and to commence discharge of her London cargo. She is expected to leave here again to-morrow for Auckland to complete discharge and to commence her Homeward loading. WESTMORELAND UNDOCKS. The Federal steamer Westmoreland undocked at midday yesterday after undergoing minor repairs, and berthed at the King’s Wharf to continue her Homeward loading. She is to leave here again on Sunday morning for Napier to complete, and is scheduled to dear that port finally next Tuesday for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Cape Horn, Montevideo and Dakar.
