SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
A Magnificent programme will be presented by the Wellington Symphony Orchestra at the Town Hall this evening. The orchestra has now become an institution in Wellington, and is one of the brightest hopes in the Dominion for the advancement of music. Under the baton of Mr. Leon de Mauny, it has achieved unity, balance, mid all-round competence, and is now capable of presenting authoritatively the great works in music. • The concert this evening will demonstrate to a marked degree the remarkable talent that is available in Wellington. Associated with tile orchestra under Mr. Leon de Manny's direction will be such notable artists aS Miss Ava Symons, Miss Helen Gard’ner, and Mr. Bernard Page Each of these will contribute to the” programme choice examples of ap-
pealing music. In addition, the champion band of New Zealand, the Port Nicholson Silver Band, will be heard in conjunction with the orchestra and the ' organ in the ever-popular overture, “1812.” So much interest is being shown in the. concert that it is wise to book early. The box plan is at the Bristol. There will be four hundred seats at two shillings (plus tax). The hall will be comfortably heated.
