GAME RATHER SCARCE

Quail, Hare and Pheasant disappointing season On the whole, the shooting season for quail, hare and cock pheasant, which closed on July 31, wag rather disap.pointing, but sportsmen fortunate enough to have good dogs secured a fair amount of game. Game was rather scarce right throughout the district, said Mr. T. W. Willson, head ranger for the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, yesterday, Quite a number of sportsmen obtained pheasants, Hud hares were numerous in some parts of the district, but, generally speaking, there appeared to be a falling-dffi in game. Quail were scarce, but good bags were secured in the vicinity of I’alliser Bay.
