CLAIM THAT FAILED
Debt of a Chinese In China- a debt always remains a debt until it is paid by the debtor, his relatives, or bis descendants. This point was mentiofied by counsel during the hearing of a ease, in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, in which Loo Chong Foo, fruiterer, of Wellington, sought to recover from Joe Young Lin, fruiterer, of Hamilton, the sum of £77/10/- allegedly advanced to him more than six years ago. Plaintiff, who was nosuited on the plea of the statute of limitations, was stated to have advanced £3O to Joe Young Lin to enable him to pay a fine for having opium in his possession, and £47/10/- to pay the p'oll-tax on two cousins’ of the defendant who were coming to New Zealand.
