PLUNKET BALL
To-night’s Big Attraction The numerous workers who have been concentrating for weeks past on various activities in connection with the Plunket ball, "Snowed Under," and the spectacular pageants, ballets, etc., in connection with the ball, will have their reward to-night, and with them the members of the public who attend this important race week social event. An evening of fun and merriment is promised, and in addition to enjoying the spectacle and the danelng those who attend will have the satisfaction of helping a great movement—the Plunket Society. The founder of the society, Sir Truby King, is to be present this evening as guest of honour.
Ticket-holders are asked to go to the main entrance of the Town Hall, and latecomers who have not been able to secure their tickets beforehand are asked to go to the Mercer Street entrance of the Town Hall. The ball will commence at 9 o’clock sharp, and the opening scene Of the attractive cabaret items will commence at 9.15, so everyone who does not wish to miss these charming scenes is asked to be punctual. ,
The opening scene will personify the spirit of the ball—the “Spirit of Better Times,” designed by Mrs. James Hannah, and will be followed by two delightful ballets trained by Miss Estelle Beere and Mr. James Devitt. Then will follow the “Parade of Living Posters,” in which the firms of the city are taking great interest, and in which much originality is promised in the designs for the best ’nterpretation of the name of the ball. Entries for this event have been received from the following firms; Miss Black, florist; Black and White Whisky ; Woolworths Ltd.; Australian National Travel Association; New Zealand Woolpack Textile Co., “Oystrlne,” Wellington Symphony Orchestra, English Fur Co., and Lever Bros. Lady Myers, Mrs. Hislop and Mrs. Macar-thy-Reid will be the judges of this event.
The committee states that those who have been disappointed in their efforts to secure a table can rest assured that there will be plenty of sitting-out accommodation provided and that everything will be done for their comfort. Tickets are on sale at the Bristol.
