CITIZENS’ DAY NURSERY
Mrs. Reid presided over a large attendance of members at the last meeting of the Citizens’ Day Nursery committee. Mrs. Zander was welcomed after her visit to Australia. Though the poor working mother is hard pressed, she is grateful for the safety and comfort provided for her little ones by the nursery, and this is available even when they can pay nothing. Although members and friends do all they can, it is necessary to make a special effort from time to time to i-aise funds. With this end in view the society will give a bridge party in Kirkcaldie’s rooms on the afternoon of Thursday, July 28, when the happiest financial result is expected, as well as an enjoyable time. Mrs. Reid and Miss Townsend are giving prizes. The following gifts are gratefully acknowledged: New Zealand Trawling Co., flsh; Mr. Rod, bones ; Boston Cake Shop, cakes; Mrs. Murphy, apples and papers; Mrs. Kirk, clothes; Mrs. R6id. potatoes, disinfectants, wood, biscuits, sweets, etc.; Madame de Mauny, clothes; Mrs. Addison, £l/1/-; Mrs. H. D. Crawford, £l/1/-; Lady Myers, 10/-.
