CYCLONIC STORM

New South Wales Swept HUGE SEAS ON COAST (Rec. July 13, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, July 13. Surpassing the intensity of the past few days the cyclonic disturbance continued vesterday and last night, resulting in "the further disorganisation of shipping and additional rains in the coastal districts. The town of Forster was entirely cut off when two small rivers overflowed their banks. Overseas and inter-State vessels, which should have left yesterday, but which were delayed by the weather, are the Autolycus for London, the City of Tbkio for Liverpool, the Canadian Constructor for Montreal, the Port Brisbane for London, the Changte for Melbourne, and the Zealandia, Saros, Burwah, Allara, and Broadway for Newcastle. ' The North Coast Steam Navigation Company cancelled all sailings. Because of bumping at the jetty at Coff’s Harbour, the Gabriella, which was loading for New Zealand, via Newcastle, was compelled to put out to sea. She is believed to be sheltering somewhere along the coast. Throughout the day no steamer was able to leave Newcastle as huge seas were making the bar dangerous. Despite the mountainous seas the Manly ferry service was continued. The boats, with the main decks awash, were tossed about like corks. Weather conditions on the coast moderated considerably during the day and shipping is now on the move again. A unique spectacle was witnessed, fourteen ships clearing the Heads between early morning and 9 a.m., and by noon 28 had passed out one after the other. The State Meteorologist says that danger of floods and gales Is now past, the cyclone having moved beyond Lord Howe Island. There was bright sunshine in Sydney to-day for the first time for a week..
