Parents’ Association Meeting The .first annual meeting of the Johnsonville Home and School Association was' held, in the schoolroom bn Monday; The president. Mr. Gavan C. Stone, presided, The chairman' made 'reference to the adverse circumstances under which the association had come-into being, and declared that it was more than ever- essential for parents to take an interest in educational matters to-day, as the economy axe was falling heavily on the educational system of this country. He appealed for all to actively associate' themselves with the association. The secretary, Mr. C. Crawford, was complimented on his very fine report, tind was heartily thanked for the enthusiasm he had displayed in his work during the twelve months. .Several matters of interest were discussed. particularly the heed for the installation of tlie electric' light in the schools on account of the very antiquated lay-out of the buildings. The importance, of swimming baths in the district was discussed, and it was stated that this matter is being dealt with by the school committee..
The following officers were elected for the tusuing. year:—Patron, Mr. ,W. 11. Field. M.P.; president, Mr. G, A. Jones; vice-president. Mr; Gavan. C, Stone; hon, secretary, Mr.' C.' Crawford ;.. hon, treasurer. Mr. H. Johnston; delegate to'Wellington S.C. and E.F.. Mr. G. A. Jones; executive, MesdaniCs J. C. Moore, Pic.ltin. Markel, T. Johnson, Cathcart, and Fitall, Messrs. McComish. J. C. Moore, and Houston.
