In these days when advertising is as important as the raw material of.a. pro-, duct, as vital to continuous production as. the product itself, one still hears the voice of a doubting Thomas making the. above query. > ■ . -- . ■ ■ ' Striking demonstrations ot how advertising has increased sales and has at the same time reduced the cost of distribution and sales, can be shown in thousands of businesses. . But the man who will not be convinced is still asking the question, “Are advertising campaigns profitable?” That they are profitable to those who sponsor them, and to the great buying public is clearly shown bv the American Tobacco Company. Now, when the advertising appropriation » nearly five million pounds, jt costs less »o sell one packet of “Luckies” (cigarettes) than when they spent only £250,000. — “Western Digest.”
