REFORM LEAGUE ■ Women’s Auxiliary Monthly Meeting The monthly meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of the New Zealand Political Reform League was held on Monday evening at the Reform Club. Mrs. Stone, in the absence of the president, Mrs. J. G. Coates, presided over a good attendance of members. ' Votes of, sympathy were passed to the relatives of the late Mrs. Niven and to Lady Pomare in her sad loss. The Hon. A. Hamilton, Minister of Labour, was the speaker for the evening, and gave, a most interesting and instructive address on the exchange rate. After the Minister had answered a number of Questions, a vote of thanks was passed on the motion of Miss. McLean, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. WEDDING Gruar—Herd A quiet wedding took place in Wellington recently, when Margery, younger daughter of Mr. T. R. Herd, late of Wellington, and now of England, was married to Captain R, F. Gruar, Skinner’s Horse, Lucknow.- India. A reception was afterwards held at the St. George Hotel, only immediate relatives being present. LUNCHEON PARTY Mrs. Lewis gave a luncheon party at Kirkcaldie’s tea rooms on Wednesday in honour of the coming of age of her daughter. The tables were attractively decorated with Iceland poppies, and each guest was presented with a beautiful floral favour of carnations, roses, and chrysanthemums, with autumn leaves. BOYS’ INSTITUTE Ladies’ Auxiliary Meeting The monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Boys’ Institute was presided over by Mrs. L. T. Watkins, the following members being present:— Mesdames-Sol Myers, J.P., A. Wilson, Kemp, P. Schneideman, R. G. Reveirs (treasurer), Miss Gilchrist, and Miss M. Wills, secretary. Reports' received from members of the auxiliary who had paid visits of inspection to the home during the month were considered very satisfactory. Mrs. L. T. Watkins spoke feelingly of the deaths of Mrs. E, C. Stanton and Mrs. J. Niven, two of the oldest members of the auxiliary. Mrs. Myers moved a very hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Watkins for her donation of £3 toward the funds of the auxiliary. CROCHETED CAPS FOR GIRLS. ALEXANDRA HOME At the monthly meeting of the Alexandra Home Committee, presided over by Mrs. Corkill, there were present: Mesdames Gill. McVicar, Hempton, Kemp, Watt, Smith, Shirer, Underwood and Miss Fraser. The matron reported that there were 29 adults and 15 infants in the home, and that there had been 27 confinements and 4 district cases attended. There were 121 attendances at the ante-natal clinic. The matron acknowledged with thanks the following gifts:—Parsley, Mrs. Brown; papers, Mrs. G. Moore; magazines, Mrs. E. B. Nees; Christian Science literature, a friend; church magazines, Mr. Taine; a ham, Mr. Miles, Majoribanks Street. Lady Gwendoline Jellicoe invited the New Zealand Guiders at present in London to lunch on May 25, and afterwards took them over the Houses of Parliament.
