Next Junior Rugby Visit NO REPRESENTATIVE PLAY A letter from the Canterbury Rugby Union inquiring whether Wellington intended to send a junior representative team to Christchurch this season was received at the weekly meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union’s management committee, held last evening. “No, Canterbury are due to come here, said the chairman, Mr. J. Prendeville. “In any case, we are not sending junior representatives on tour this year.” The secretary, Mr. A. E. Neilson, was instructed to reply explaining the position. In a letter of inquiry the secretary of the Junior Advisory Committee referred to the fact that the management committee had decided there were to be no representative games for the lower grades this season. He asked whether the committee would allow Town v. Country matches to be played in the junior first division, the third first division, the fourth first division, and the sixth and seventh grades, also the annual fifth-grade fixture, colleges v. other clubs, after the competitions were ended. The request was approved. System of Transfers. The transfer of the Upper Hutt and rhe Berhampore fourth grade.teams from the first to the second division at the end of the first round of the first division was recommended in another letter received from the secretary of the Junior Advisory Committee. It was stated also that the committee recommended the. transfer of the I’etone junior second division team to the junior first division at the end of the first round. The team had played seven matches; and had won them by wide margins. Both recommendations received, the approval of the management committee. The Junior Advisory Committee further recommended that when a team, is regraued from a lower to a higher division the championship points gained by it in the lower grade should count for the cliamshio in" the higher division, provided that such points were not in excess of the points gained by the leading team in the higher grade during the first round, It the points were in excess the teams should, in the opinion of the committee, be credited with the same number of points as the leading team in the higher division. Similarly it was recommended that when a team was transferred from a higher to a lower division it should count the championship points, already gained by it in the higher division. Position to be Reviewed. It was decided after discussion, that the recommendations be agreed to in the meantime, the position to be reviewed later' in order that no team should suffen as the result of this system. W. Tynan was granted a transfer from the Onslow to the Miramar club. A request from the Upper Hutt club t hat permission be given for the withdrawal of its fifth grade team., on the grounds that the fielding of a fwll team was becoming increasingly difficult, was granttil. Fixtures for June 25. Tt was announced that senior A fixtures for Saturday. June 25. would be allocated to the following grounds:— Berhampore v. University, at Prince of Wales Park. Marist v. Oriental, at Newtown Park. Athletic v. Miramar, at the Polo Ground. Miramar. - Old Boys v. Petone, at Petone. Grounds have yet to be allotted for the HuttTv. Poneke and Eastbourne v. Wellington matches
