BIRTHDAY PARTY
A most successful and jolly parry was held at 'M Queen’s Drive, Lyall Bay, recently, when 50 friends of Mr. and Mrs R- J. H. Ockenden met to celebrate the 21st birthday of their eldest daughter Gwen. Two humorous playlets were given in character by Miss Joyce Gibson, Miss Doreen Cunningham, Miss Marjorie Eberlct, and Miss Grace Stone. The veranda bad been closed in with tarpaulins, and beautifully decorated with coloured streamers and cherry blossom for a supper room. The birthday cake was pale pink, with 21 kewpies forming a maypole on top. Among the guests present were Dr. and Mrs. Usher, Mr. and Mrs. A. Phelps, Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood. Mr. and Mrs. F. Evans, Mrs. Ockcmden, sen., Mr. and Mrs. Haswell, Mr. and Mrs. R. Evans, Mrs. Darrach, Misses Conway, Cornwall, Horsley, Gibson. Cowan, C. Oekenden, Cunningham, Ebeplet, Haswell, Stone (2), Gambrill, Smith (2), Mills, Boyd, Ross, Nicolson, Messrs. Gillies, Grono, Sando (2), Cowan, Pryor, Haswell (2), Sherwood, Gambrill, Wade. Miss Gwen Ockenden received many very beauitful gifts.
