“Mischief” at the Regent One of the most entertaining, talking pictures that is ever likely to be turned out by British studios, will be the cause of mirth and merriment at the Regent Theatre from to-morrow. The British Dominions Film “Mischief,” starring that delightful bemonocled funster, Ralph Lynn, is B.D.F.’s latest ultra-comedy opus. As Arthur Gordon, a meekly married, man, who is allowed to see just as much of the world as his wife’s apron strings will allow, Ralph ..has a respite from his better, or larger half, by going to a very fast cafo with his friend. Midway between festivities they both espy their wives entertaining two gentlemen friends. What follows is much too good to reveal here. This is another Ben Travers story, adapted to the needs of the talking picture screen. Travers, who Is the most prolific writer of humorous stories in the world, has screen material which is in constant demand by film producers, but up to now he has devoted most of his works to the English screen. A supporting cast, which Includes such talent as is supplied by Winifred Shotter, who will be well remembered for her "pyjama” role in “Rookery Nook." and her appearance in “Plunder - ’ and ‘-‘Chance of a Night Time,” as the female lead, while prize comedian Kenneth Kove, he of the frozenface, also has a stellar role. “8.1. WEEK Attractive Programmes “ All-British” will be the slogan of four of Wellington’s leading picture theatres next Friday, when British International Pictures, Ltd., will present a number oc attractions that should go far towards placing British productions firmly on tne topmost rung of the ladder of fame. Comedy, romance, music, drama and education will all be represented, and there will be an excellent assortment of short subjects. When one considers that British International Pictures, Ltd., have given the pub; lie such successes as “Tlie Middle M atch, “Love Lies,” “My Wife’s Family.” ami a host of other attractions, than one will realise that Friday’s offerings will be something “out of the box.”
