Sir, —Although New Zealand is « country with comparatively little history, there is history in the making, and the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi is one of the chief events of the early day*. It has struck me that it would be a graceful compliment to their Excellencies Lord and Lady B.ledisloe and a worthy recognition of their gift of the historic Waitangi estate to the people of this country if in every school throughout New Zealand during this term the story of the treaty were told to the children, and their Excellencies’ splendid gift explained.—l am, etc.,
