Gilt furniture, such as mirror frames and occasional chairs, can be cleaned by sponging with a mixture composed of the white of an egg and one tablespoonful of baking soda.
When cutting hedges or trimming around lawns dip the shears frequently into cold water. This will keep them sharp and will prevent the grass from sticking in them.
