Palmerston Broadcasting
Sir, —At the present time there seems to be a certain amount of uncertainty as to what is to become of our B class broadcasting stations. In Palmerston North we have two stations, namely, 2ZF, and 2ZQ. Both have given us a large amount of satisfaction and pleasure, especially on evenings when the reception of YA stations is upset with atmospheric conditions and mushiness, particularly 2YA. I am given to understand that 2ZQ recently applied for permission to broadcast on Thursday evenings. This permission was refused, hut almost in the next breath we hear the other station, 2ZF, announcing that they will be on the air on Thursday evening of this week. Very good, Now, Sir, 2ZQ has given wonderful satisfaction to listeners for miles around; why then should they be refused and the other station allowed the extra night. . . . I have no grudge against 2ZF, and thank them for their past, which at times has been very good; but I feel I roust say: “Thank you, 2ZQ; I would like to hear you more.” Knowing there are many who feel as I do about this matter, and thanking you.—l am, etc., “FAIRNESS.” Palmerston North, April 6.
