Wellington Kindergarten
Sir,—ln his reply to certain educational bodies on Friday last, the Minister of Education, Hou. R. A. Masters, is reported to have stated that the Free Kindergartens were hoarding funds. That certainly is not the case with the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association. Far from hoarding fuuds, the association is holding only sufficient to enable it to carry ou for the immediate future. It has been the policy of the Wellington Kindergarten Council at no time to ask either the Government or the general publie for more funds than were necessary for the normal development of the work. At the present time, after allowing for the most rigid economies, aud for the temporary closing down of one of the branch, kindergartens, the association can only carry on if the work is supported in voluntary ways to an even greater extent than has been the case in the past. On behalf of the executive, —I am, etc., R. M. DOWSETT, Secretary. April 11.
