PIG MARKETING

Discussion of Reforms MEETING NEXT WEEK Mr. W. A. Phillips, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-op. Pig Marketing Association, discussing the progress being made in the direction of obtaining Government support to a scheme for the rationalisation of the pig industry, said that he was pleased to say that producers and others interested had found Dr. Reakes, the Director-General of Agriculture, entirely sympathetic to the need and importance of some forward move to place the industry in a position to commence development on sound and scientific-lines. To this end a meeting of all interested bodies had been convened, to be held in Wellington next week, when opportunity will be taken to discuss with . the department proposals for giving effect to certain fundamental reforms which in the opinion of those alive to its national possibilities were absolutely vital to the ultimate success of the industry.
