“G. Forbes and Others” WAGE-CUT PETITION A similarity In names provoked the House of Representatives to hearty laughter during the presentation of ■petitions yesterday. Numerous petitions came forward from retailers in various parts of the Dominion, praying that no further reductions should be made in wages and salaries. It is usual for a member presenting such petitions to quote the name of the first signatory and state numerically the number of was'left to Mr. S. G. Smith (Govt, Now Plymouth) to provide the 1 *Sbt touch when he gravely announced: I have a petition from G. Forbes and others, praying that no further reduction be made in salaries and wages. Labour members at once applauded, and there was general laughter, in which the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, joined.
