Mr. A. IV. Wheeler, general manager of the Union Steam Ship Company, Ims been appointed to fill the vacancy on the board of directors caused by Sir John Roberts’s resignation. Mr. L. M. Mather and Mr. A. Walker. of Wanganui, are in Wellington taking part In the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association championships at Miramar. Mr. C. H. Hughes, manager at Sydney fbr the Union Steam Ship Company, returned home from Auckland last week at the end of a brief business trip to New Zealand. Constable Reginald D. Squire, of Eastbourne, left last week for England, accompanied by his daughter. Miss -Marjorie Squire. During Constable Squire’s absence. Constable Jamieson will be stationed at Eastbourne. Mr. H. Turplcy Jones, factory representative of Morris Motors. Ltd.. Oxford, England, left last week by the Rangitiki on a business trip to the West Indies and England. Mr. Jones is accompanied by his wife and expects to be absent from New Zealand for about six or seven months.
