Children’s Clothes Needed 700 NAMES ON LIST According to the latest report of the honorary secretary of the Smith Family organisation, there are now 700 names oh the card system of families in receipt of some form of relief from the organisation, a. total of 3208 persons being affected. Between March 2 and 9 03 new cases were dealt with, 18 were undergoing investigation, and there were 33 cases requiring further help, a total of. 114. During the week mentioned seven families undertook the care of a similar number of iudigent families for the present, and eight other offers were received to provide partial relief. In all 133 homes were visited, the area covered extending from Moera, Lower Hutt, to Island Bay. and from Miramar to Karori. In all 538 articles of clothing were distributed as well as quantities of foodstuffs ami firewood.

The greatest need at the present juncture is clothes for babies and children. As the weather is now noticeably cooler at nights, warm clothes and bedding are essential, and anyone who can help in this direction may either leave parcels addressed to the Smith Family at H. Nimino and Son’s, Willis Street, or ring up and leave an address where the articles can be collected.
