The Commonwealth Government proposes to swear in special peace officers at a 'moment’s notice should trouble arise. FEDERAL ACTION New Acts in Operation Canberra, March 14. The Financial Agreements Enforcement Bill and the Financial Agreement (Commonwealth Liability) Bill have received the assent of his Excellency the Governor-General. Both measures are therefore now in operation. GOVERNMENT APPEAL Campbell’s Conviction Sydney, March 14. It is officially announced that the State Government will lodge an appeal against the decision of Mr. Justice Street, who allowed the appeal of Eric Campbell, leader of the New Guard, against his conviction and fine for the use of “insulting words” in reference to Mr. Lang.
