POPE’S CORONATION

Celebration of Anniversary Rome, February 12. On the anniversary of the Pope’s coronation crowds thronged St. Peter's. Silver bugles heralded the appearance of the Pontiff seated in his chair and borne on the shoulders of eight attendants, followed by two negroes waving ostrich feather fans. All the cardinals now in Rome, archbishops. bishops, military, civil and ecclesiastical dignitaries were arranged in glittering uniforms and participated in the procession. The Pope ascended the throne and Mass was celebrated.
