Australian Championships CRAWFORD RETAINS TITLE (Rec. February 14, 5.5 p.m.) Adelaide, February 14. In the Australian tennis championship finals the results were: Men’s Singles.—Crawford (New South Wales) retained the title after a gruelling battle with .Hopman (Victoria), 4—6, 6—3, 3—6, 6—3, 6—l. Junior Singles— McGrath (New South Wales) beat Quist (South Australia), 6—4, 6—2. Women’s Singles.—Mrs. Buttsworth (New South Wales) beat Miss Le Messurier (South-Australia), 9—7, 6—4. Mixed Doubles.—Crawford and Mrs. Crawford beat Satoh and Mrs. O’Hara Mood. 6 —3, B—6.8 —6. 6 —3. Women’s Doubles.—Mrs. Crawford and Mrs. Buttsworth (New South Wales) beat Miss Le Mcssurier and Miss Weston (South Australia), 6—2, 6—2. Men’s Doubles. —Crawford and Moon beat Patterson and Hopman, 4—6, 6 —4, 12—10, 6—3. YOUTHFUL CHAMPION Visit to Wimbledon Arranged Sydney, February 13. Vivian McGrath, the boy tennis champion, is to visit Europe. He will take part in the Wimbledon and other contests. His trip will synchronise with the Davis Cup contest. The New South Wales Tennis Association is to pay his expenses.
